1. What is PAN?

PAN is an acronym for Permanent Account Number with a 10-digit alphanumeric code. PAN is employed in the process of unique identification. Every taxpayer or individual who requests it must be given this number, which is the duty of the income tax division. To file income tax returns, a PAN is a requirement. It is essential to have a PAN card if you are dealing in financial transactions such as professional fees, receiving a salary, selling or purchase of assets, etc. We recommend you have a PAN card in case you do not have one. 2. Re-apply for PAN Card

Indian citizens receive a Permanent Account Number (PAN), often known as a PAN Card, from the Income Tax Department of India. PAN Cards are required for financial activities, sales and purchases, applying for visas, and more. They also serve as legal identification. If someone's PAN Card is stolen or misplaced, it would be a distressing situation for them. If this happens, the person can apply for a duplicate PAN either online or offline. Those who misplace or lose their PAN cards should contact the local police department and request an acknowledgment or complaint copy of the initial information report (FIR). By making a police report and getting a copy, you can be sure that the PAN Card is not being misused. Also, you will avoid being blamed if you do this.

3. Procedures of Applying For Duplicate PAN Card

Go to the official website of TIN You need to choose the application type as 'Changes or correction in existing PAN data/Reprint of PAN card'. Then click on the 'Submit' option after furnishing all the necessary information fields. You will then get a token number on your registered e-mail address and display it on the screen. Keep safe this number for future reference. After this, click on 'Continue with PAN Application Form' & fill in your 'Personal Details'. You can now submit the e-sign for e-KYC or physically mail the documents to the PAN services section of NSDL's registered address. (In case of theft) Attach the FIR. Choose the method for getting the card from the ensuing menu. If you choose "Yes" when asked if you need a physical PAN card, the card will be delivered to your registered address. In any other case, the e-PAN card will be sent to the registered email ID. Fill out the required details, like 'Contact details' and 'Document details', and click on 'Submit'. On the payment page, complete the required payment. You will receive an acknowledgment. Now, you can check the status of your card using the 15-digit acknowledgment number sent to you. After furnishing the application, your PAN will be delivered to the registered address within 14 days.
