BREAKING - PAN-Aadhar Deadline Extended: Check New PAN-Aadhaar Linking Dates

The date of linking PAN-Aadhaar has been extended to 30th June 2023.

 

The Income Tax Department giving the much-needed downtime to the Pan Card holders in India has extended the deadline to link PAN-Aadhaar till 30 June 2023. The deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended to June 30, 2023, in order to provide taxpayers more time. As a result, people can inform the required authority of their Aadhaar for PAN-Aadhaar linkage without suffering consequences. The income tax department had stated in the Notification.

Income Tax Department of IndiaFrom 1st July 2023, the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative with consequences. The PAN can be made operative again in 30 days, upon intimation of Aadhaar to the prescribed authority after payment of a fee of Rs. 1,000. 

 

 

According to the Income-tax Act of 1961 (the "Act"), any individual who was assigned a PAN as of July 1, 2017, and who is qualified to receive an Aadhaar number, must inform the designated authority about his Aadhaar on or before March 31, 2023.

Any failure in this may attract repercussions under the Act effective on 1st April, 2023. The individuals who are exempted from PAN-Aadhaar linking will not be facing the aforementioned consequences. This category includes those residing in specified States, a non-resident as per the Act, non-residents of India, or individuals of the age of eighty years or more at any time during the previous year.
